This is the first screen you will see when you start the Wow! application.

 

refresh optionCheck for Wow! messages sent to you.
new Wow! optionCreate a new Wow! message.
inbox optionShows messages received.
drafts optionShows messages you have created but not sent.
outbox optionShows sent messages.
setup optionAccess the application setup screen. In setup, you will provide a valid e-mail address which is required to send or receive Wow! messages.
library optionAccess the Wow! Elements Library.

Wow! message creation basics

This is where Wow! messages are created.

 

lock optionThis is the cell lock feature. Tap it to lock the display and make it easier to move between cells. Elements cannot be edited while the lock is on.
recording optionTap to record. Recordings are limited to 10 seconds.
camera optionTap to take a photo with the camera.
photo library optionTap to add a photo from the photo library.
caption optionTap to add a caption.
library optionTap to access the Wow! Elements Library. In the library you can select which Wow! Element Set to display on this screen.
show cellsThe cell bar at the top indicates the number of cells. The current cell is highlighted in orange.
add new cellAdd a cell to the end of the message.
delete cellDelete the current cell.
save/send optionSave or send your work.
cancel optionCancel.
Adding a caption

Adding a caption is easy. Just type in the desired text, size the caption by moving the slider left and right, select any desired options, and save

 

slider optionDrag this slider left or right to control the width of the caption.
caption tail optionControl the placement of the tail for the caption. Tap once to revert the direction of the tail. Tap again to remove the tail. Tap again to go back to the initial position.
standard captionDisplay the caption using the standard caption which is a simple rounded rectangle.
bubble captionDisplay the caption using a bubble format. You can use this to indicate somenoe is thinking instead of speaking.
no captionSelect this to display the text but without a surrounding border.
select colorDrag each color slider left and right to select the text color and the background color for the caption.
Modifying an element

You can scale and rotate any element including photos.

 

 

rotate optionRotate tool. Drag either of the dark gray circles around to rotate the element. This feature works for all types of elements.
scale optionScale tool. Move the yellow slider up or down to make the element bigger or smaller. This feature works for all types of elements.
z-order optionThis option allows you to control which elements appear in front or in the back of other elements. Tap to send the currently selected element to the back of the other elements in the cell.
edit element optionThis option allows you to edit the current element. If the current element is an image, you will be able to change the color for the image. If the element is a caption, you will access the Edit Caption screen.
MyFaves optionTap to add the currently selected element to the MyFaves element set.
duplicate optionTap to create a copy of the currently selected element. THe new element is positioned slightly to the right and down from the selected element.
delete optionTap to remove the element from the cell. This option cannot be undone.
Taking a photo

Once you have selected to take a photo, you will be prompted to rotate the device to portrait mode. Once the device has been rotated, the familiar iPhone camera screen will appear. While on the camera screen you may rotate back to landscape mode if a wide shot is desired. Once you are happy with the shot, and choose to use it, you will be prompted to rotate back to landscape mode. This is necessary because the Wow! application only works in landscape mode.

Recording

Press record to start recording. Note: recording actually starts when "Recording" is displayed. Press stop when completed. Recording automatically stops if the time limit is reached. The time limit is required due to the large size of recorded files.

play optionTap to play a recording. The button title changes to "Stop" while recording. Tap to stop the recording.
feedback viewThis box is used to provide recording feedback.
Save/send Options

Once you have created a Wow!, you may send it to others, store it on the device, or store it online.

 

record optionTap to send to another Wow! user.
record optionTap to send as a regular e-mail.
record optionTap to save as a draft for later.
record optionTap to store online.

record optionTap the top line to manually enter an e-mail address.
record optionTap the familiar blue plus sign to choose a recipient from the address book.
record optionTap to send the Wow!.
record option Tap to look for local users on your Wifi network. Users are only detected if they are actively using the Wow! application.
Storing a Wow! online

Storing a Wow! online.

- fill-in the author field (optional)

- fill-in the keywords field (optional)

record optionSelect whether to store the Wow! in MyWows! or as a Public Wow! (the default is to store in to MyWow!s)
- Tap save to store the Wow! online.
Send to Local Wow! users

The application automatically scours the Wifi network and locates other Wow! users who are currently using the Wow! application. Network user names are displayed, not e-mail addresses.

 

In the example shown here, a device has been found on the network. The user name of the device is: iPod touch.

 

Note: your device name is shown in the dark gray box. This is the name that other Wow! users will see when searching for local users.

 

To send the Wow! message just tap on the desired user name. Note: your e-mail address will be included in the transmission.

 

Additional Information

Network user names are derived from the device name you assigned when you setup your device in iTunes. You can change your device name using iTunes.

 

 

Wow! Elements Library

The Wow! Elements Library is where you go to get new elements. Elements can be graphics or sounds.

 

get more sets optionTap to get more element sets from the online element set repository.
manage MyFaves optionTap to add or delete elements from the MyFaves element set.
view author information optionTap to view author information for the selected element set.
set active set optionTap to set the current selected element set as the active element set. The active element set is displayed while editing a Wow! message.
Wow! MyFaves elements set

The myFaves feature allows you to create a favorite set of elements. If there are elements that you use frequently, these would be good candidates for the MyFaves element set.

 

get more sets optionTap to show the elements currently in the MyFaves element set.

To add elements to the MyFaves element set:

- select an element set by tapping the desired element set from the Local element sets list on the left side of the screen. The elements for the selected element set will be shown on the right side of the screen.

- tap one of the elements. The elements is added to the MyFaves element set.

 

To delete elements from the MyFaves element set:

- tap the Show MyFaves button. Swipe any of the elements. Confirm that you want to delete the element.

Online Wow!s

The Wow! application allows you to store your Wow! messages online. You can store Wow!s in a private area (MyWow!s), where only you can access them, or you can store them in a Public area for all to see. Public Wow!s are subject to review to ensure the content is appropriate for a general audience. Please see the Terms of Service section for more information.
